There are only a few things that need to be pointed out about Thursday:
- Our defensive pressure was non-existent. We we’re quite clearly playing with the “rolling zone” approach, but that doesn’t work if you don’t adjust to where the ball is actually going. Richmond took “rolling zone” to mean “an excuse not to man up”.
- We didn’t tackle. Pretty much at all. Memories of Round 3 last year.
- And this from the Herald Sun: “Good sides will punish your mistakes and Carlton kicked 16 of their 23 goals directly from Tiger turnovers.” (Source) Don’t think that includes the horrendous dropped uncontested marks inside the defensive 50 either.
If any of these three remain Richmond characteristics this week, we will be looking at a defeat of over 150 points.
