The unthinkable has happened, and our talisman will no longer wear the boots. For anyone who hasn’t heard (which seems unlikely at this point), Matthew Richardson has succumbed to injury and announced his retirement.
Little to say – but what a great run it’s been. We love you Richo.

Fantastic story from action-packed Oregon in the USA. After a disappointing loss to Boise State in the pointed ball football, an angry Oregon Ducks fan sent the coach an invoice for his travel costs, ticket price, etc. From ESPN:
Seminary, an Oregon alumnus from the Portland area, attended the game in Boise. According to the Web [...]

Bowden Bowin’ out
players

In many ways Joel Bowden’s actions this week has typified his career at Richmond, and what you have to like about the guy. He saw what was happening for the team, summed the situation up, and did what was best for the team regardless of the consequences for himself. He could have put up a [...]

Could a Sheedy/Rawlings team work?

Lets face it, in the earlier post (Jade the Blade – the Next Geisch or Paul Roos Mark II?) a big part of the concern with Jade (that’s Mr Blade to you) was his lack of experience in the big league: in any capacity. So my crazy Friday afternoon question becomes: should Richmond appoint Kevin [...]

Caretaker coach. It’s got to be a difficult job. Inevitably you want to keep the job you’re currently doing, but it’s pretty rare to have any kind of assurance that you can keep it. Keep doing [...]

If we only win one more this year…

…please Tiges – let it be this one. One of the few joys of following the mighty Tigers was that every couple of years the yeller and black got up to upset the finals plans of the filthy Blues. The opportunity is there, the motive couldn’t be more obvious: revenge for that game should be [...]

Big ins and outs this week, with Jade Rawlings making it clear that he had no intention of marking time. 5 changes is a big deal in and of itself, but the changes are in many ways the changes that have needed to happen for a while.

Yellow and Jade
discussions

Seems like a good decision to get Jade Rawlings as caretaker: it certainly doesn’t seem to lock us in too much to keeping the caretaker on next year – which was my biggest concern. With all due respect to the current assistant coaches, I didn’t want any of them coaching next year.
So well done Tiges, [...]
